Alison Townshend launched her retail business, Sassy & Boo, in 2005 but found it difficult to source quality labels on an ‘as you need them’ basis to complement her forward order brands. This led her to create Luella in 2013, a one size brand offering quality cashmere blend knitwear, stylish linens and a range of summer cottons at a great price point.

The Classic Star Jumper is now synonymous with Luella and has been imitated at home and abroad. But that’s just part of the story.

As a brand designed in Great Britain and with a manufacturing base in Italy, Luella today also designs a range of dresses, skirts, and shirts, as well as resort wear and accessories.

New collections are introduced monthly, which offers discerning customers something different each time they visit, whatever the season. The excitement created by new styles has allowed Sassy & Boo to open six new stores over the last three years, while Luella now supplies more than 450 independent retailers throughout the UK, including a growing number of boutiques overseas.

As an experienced fashion retailer, Alison knows that the perfect in-season brand will bring retailers’ customers back time after time. The ability to order as much or as little as retailers need – when they need it – also provides essential flexibility for independent boutiques as they compete on today’s high street. And being a one size brand (8 through to 14), Luella eliminates the need to buy multiple sizes allowing retailers to achieve 100% sell through.

Luella is constantly evolving and adapting to the needs of its customers. Alison works closely with her stockists and her manufacturers to ensure she delivers - on style - on price - on demand.
